item: #1070551
price: Sold

A fine Chinese hardwood stand. The top of irregular form (likely originally intended to hold a very specific object - perhaps a scholar's stone) upon a receded waist on rounded, foliate skirt and six similarly shaped cabriole legs terminating gracefully with scrolled leaf feet and resting on an undulating stretcher all raised on shaped feet. The top being hand planed, subtle rippling is noticed when inspected closely. The underside sealed with an old coat of black lacquer. At least 19th century. Very good condition with signs of loving care - some possibly dating to its creation. We try to show all old, minor repairs - some of which (particularly a couple leg joints) appear may date to when the stand was made. Complete, whole, presentable and ready to display your cherished object, snuffs or scholar art collection. Top length: 20 7/8 inches (53cm) and a little longer at the skirt. Height: 7 3/4" (19.7cm). Top depth: 8 3/4 inches (22.22cm) at the widest point (again a little more at the skirt.) Shipping additional: Account for shipping 3.664kg (8.07 lb) before packed.
