A simple but elegant 18th century Chinese nephrite jade seal paste box of pale celadon color. Subtle, small russet inclusions appear one each inside the bowl and inside the cover. A larger russet inclusion appears along the outside of the bowl. in Short and tapered cylindrical form rounding to the crisply defined broad ring foot. The cover with convex top and fitting snug to the bowl (demonstrating the technical acumen of its maker.) The rim of the bowl cleverly carved to ensure a good fit with the cover while also reserving ample space for seal paste. Condition is good with subtle, minute imperfections expected with the medium and a small approximately 8mm spot along the bottom outside the bowl where a fleabite may have been smoothed. 2 1/16 inches diameter (5.24cm) and 1 1/4 inches high (3.17cm) Photographing this object covered proved challenging to maintain close-in focus with our lighting and camera.
