A small Chinese carved biscuit porcelain incense holder (or perfumer). The cylindrical carved white, unglazed cover over smaller diameter incense stick holder. The cover fitting onto a stepped rim on the broad base of the incense holder. The top of the cover with three holes to allow aroma from the unburned incense and carved details including small graduated bosses and prunus blossoms. The exterior of the cover with carved decoration of butterflies and a bouquet of flowering prunus limbs and grasses. Carved biscuit - glazed or not - became popular in the later Qing dynasty to turn of the century and the Republic period (to which we believe the present example belongs.) Good condition. Height, 2 3/4 inches (6.985 cm). Diameter, 2 5/16 inches (5.87 cm).
